Once upon a time there was an innocent little girl.  She longed for her mother’s approval, but found herself being disciplined by her mother with a wooden spoon countless times.

The girl was naive and did not really know why she was being disciplined most of the time.  The scenario always ended with a period of trying to figure out what she did wrong to deserve the punishment she just received.

This little girl was me.

I can remember our seating arrangement at the dinner table, which was shaped like an octagon, and there were four of us.  We each had our assigned seat.  We had strict rules at the dinner table.   We had to be sitting properly.  We had to hold our fork properly.  And normally the television was on during dinner.

For some reason I was the clumsy one.  (and the youngest of the family)  Either I spilled the milk while pouring more in my glass, or I dropped peas from my fork, and here came the wooden spoon.  My mother would go into the kitchen to the drawer, get out the wooden spoon and slap it on the table next to me, as a warning.  I got to continue my meal with the wooden spoon next to me, as a reminder not to make another false move.

If I made another mistake, I would be hit with that spoon.  If I talked back, I was hit.

My life was a system of rights and wrongs, never really learning or feeling like I could do what I was expected to do.  And many times not knowing how.

A few times I was slapped by her at the dinner table as an instant reaction instead of the spoon.  I grew up hating my mom, and wooden spoons.

It seemed I got into trouble a lot, and looking back, the memory of what I did to deserve punishment is not clear.  But what is clear is the routine of what happened next.  My mother got angry.  She went to the kitchen drawer.  She came back with the wooden spoon.  I was beat.

She tried to beat me on my rear, but as the beating continued, I tried to cover myself, begging her to stop.  Screaming.  My hands desperately trying to cover my rear from the pain that I anticipated.  Many times screaming before she even started to hit me.

Once she started, she did not stop.  She kept beating me.  If she could not get my rear, she hit my legs, not just once, not twice, but over and over and over and over.   I screamed.  I cried.  No one ever came to help me.

I was sent to my room and told to shut up.  Be quiet.  If I cried, I was beat again.

My only option was to scream into my pillow in order ‘not to be heard’.  Because if I didn’t, she would hear me, and come back into my room and beat me again with the spoon.

Sometimes she beat me hard and long enough that the spoon would break.  When I saw the spoon break; as a little girl I was devastated. (that she would hit me so hard that it would break)  When going to my room and looking at all the oval welts on my legs, I felt worthless and sorry for myself.

I grew up hating the wooden spoon.  I thought to myself, I would never have a wooden spoon when I get my own kitchen.

Even as I got older, the discipline was the same.  If I did or said something wrong that make my mother angry – I could expect to be hit, or a beating with the wooden spoon – again.

Years later, after being saved by Jesus Christ as my savior, and about 5 years after that, in a season of my life God brought me to a place of deliverance.  I learned that I needed to forgive my mother for all she did to me.  And to allow Jesus to heal me of all the pain and the beatings.   I had abuse cast out of me.  And there was more than one.  I went through a process called inner-healing; where you forgive, heal the trauma associated with it, and have the unclean spirit behind it cast out.  I began to change dramatically through the process, and became stronger and stronger.

It was a long process, and no matter where you are at, there is always more to do.

I have been saved now for over 20 years and just yesterday went through another layer of the bitterness, and pain from the past.

I thought it was all healed, and forgiven!  But every circumstance requires another healing.  It’s a process.

Interestingly enough, just days before I came across these cute wooden spoons with happy faces and had to buy them.  Although they looked just like the ones my mother beat me with, the faces on them changed my feeling toward them.  I put them in my kitchen.  Now I realize it was God who led me to buy them, and telling me he will make all things new.  He will change my gloom to joy.  And he did.

The process is not an easy one.  And there still may be more to heal.

But today, I have the victory through Christ Jesus for my healing and comfort, and deliverance. To God be the glory.

Living Worry-Free

Inspirational Writing by Janet Mata – It’s Your Divine Destiny is sponsored by BeautyforAshesBoutique.com

Haven’t I said in my Word to cast all your cares upon me – for I care for you? This is the great exchange. For I do it FOR you. So take every worry, fear, fret and flurry and lay them at my feet. For these have never been yours to carry.

Stand up and be strong – be careful for nothing – but in everything through prayer and thanksgiving let your requests be known unto your lord your God. For they cannot add anything good to your life. Rather, they add distraction and destruction. They take your ability to walk in God’s perfect timetable. They take on their own characteristic and become an idol, a god, so to speak and cannot help you if you continuously choose to worry , fear, fret, or be drawn away by flurries.

For am I not the master caregiver? Am I not the one and only who can bear the weight of these things?

So take the world off your shoulders, friend. For the world isn’t yours to carry. Give every care, whim and flurry to me, your creator, your God, Yeshua Hamashiach for I paid the price and became victor over these things!

Because worry, fret, and flurries bring trouble – and create troubled thinking, and a troubled mind. Which in turn troubles everything. Eventually this will go into overload where you lose your entire focus and well-being.

Did I not say that worry will not add even a minute to your life? Did I not say that tomorrow will worry for itself? What does this mean? It means it will not add anything beneficial or of lasting benefit to your life. So why do you continue to do these things? For if you take the bait of Satan – then you are living in your flesh.

Therefore sit at my feet and listen – for I care for you. I will orchestrate and organize your cares – and you will listen to my God-ordained instructions.

You become what you think about. What are your thoughts? On whom is your mind fixed on? Have you seen results from your thoughts? For all things start with a thought. And pondering on those thoughts give birth to them through action. And action gives birth to matter. And matter affects everything that it surrounds. So you see your worries affect others around you. And people repel from a worrier like oil and water. Life brings upon you enough load. So stop spinning your wheels and going nowhere.

Do you see? I care FOR you, so you don’t have to. So plan your day according to my instructions. Do what you can and allow me to do the rest. For I am your husband and provider.

So change your thoughts. Does not my word say to think about these things – thoughts to prosper you, to give you a hope and a future, to think about things that are pure and lovely, praiseworthy and true, and of good report? Don’t let your thoughts entice you to being dragged away to sin, rather fix your eyes on me. Cheer up for I have overcome the world.

Put the word of God within you to work – manifest what you have learned. Be a doer of the word – and let your actions speak volumes around you by your living faith. For faith requires work. It requires action.

For you are to love me with all your heart with all your soul, and all your strength, with all your ability and understanding.

If you are lacking understanding just ask me. Because me heavenly Father always gives good measure to those who ask. And keep on asking, and do not give up hope. Encourage yourself and be kingdom indeed. For the things on earth are temporal. So fix your eyes on the eternal. For eternal blessings await you in heaven. Everything you do on earth that is good and that pleases the Father will reap eternal rewards. So why not fatten your purse and load the angelic host with building materials?

So much is in store for those who believe – and continue to believe. Read my word. Listen to it. Act upon it. Understand it. Put it into action. For this is the Schema command for every believer.

I am the bread of life, come you who want to live for eternity – come to me and live. And see your salvation. Lose your life for me and you shall find it again – with abundant joy and happiness.

I am the new wine – drink of me and take your fill. For I am the giver of life. Take my advice – and fulfill the command. My instructions are here for you and await your action. For words are powerful, but actions speak volumes. They take on a ripple effect – and become matter.

Therefore let your words be few, and your actions not deny but to display your love and obedience to Christ and all that he is. For many words will not give you the inheritance you seek or desire. Trust my daughter. Trust my son, trust me for I am the good shepherd who leadeth you to life and life abundantly. I am the vine.   Strengthen yourself by partnering with me and me only.

Truly yours, Yeshua.

Scripture Reference:

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Amplified: Casting the whole of your care(all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all) on Him for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Don’t you know that your steps are ordered by the Lord?   That I am orchestrating them step by step – to cause you to triumph in every situation?  Does not my word promise trouble, but that I deliver you out of them all?

Life does not offer perfection – but through my own personal victory over death, Hades, and the grave, you may live and have the opportunity to choose a perfected life.  This does not mean a trouble-free life.  Rather, it means victory over troubles that come.

Because troubles come.  They come in waves.  Sometimes alone and sometimes in sets of three – or even four, but is rare.  If you lead a life of confessed sin and curse breaking and deliverance – you will have the opportunity to lead a successful and perfected life, a life of continuous seeking me, reading my word with due diligence, worship and prayer with fasting.

For did not I say my disciples will fast when the bridegroom is taken away?  Did not troubles hit all of my disciples?  Did they not face trial after trial – surrounded by error?  Likewise, you are my disciple.  Then the victory is like the treasure to be found.  The victory is like icing on a cake.  It completes the picture.  It’s like the frame of a door, or a roof on a house.

You see, nothing is complete without it.  That is who I am. I am who I am.  The completeness of a victorious life.  But some might say, well, they killed him on the cross, he didn’t save himself.  You see, life is more than controlling circumstances.  Life is about trusting God and seeking Him.

Did not I trust my father under diligent obedience – the perfection of all perfections?  Yes because I did not open my mouth to complain about any of the hardship.  And this I say to you:  Complain no further.  Draw a line in the sand and step over to the other side.  For my victory gives you opportunity for victory.

My so-called defeat ended in utter victory.  For they thought I was dead and gone – but now I am alive forevermore.  So what is dead and gone in your life?  It’s time to believe for the great and grand resurrection of all time.  It’s time for the major shift in the earth.  I am calling out salvations from the earth’s womb.  And I am planning a fantastic banquet party where all are invited.  Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to make it because they are either busy or had previous arrangements.

But I say to you – when opportunities come in life – no matter how much the distraction or plans – there are times to choose the better things.  For instance, Mary chose to sit at my feet while Martha chose to fret and worry over the preparation of the meal.  And expected me to send Mary to help her.  Yes, indeed Mary was wise and chose the best.

Living in this day and age has multiplied opportunities to worry and fret over many things in life.  There are many more opportunities to be busy, to plan ahead and have a full schedule of events.  But I say to you – leave a space in your calendar for me.  And even better, give it ample time and give it the best of your daily time.

Tithe your day.  If there are 24 hours in a day, then 10% would be 2 hours and 40 minutes.  2 hours and 40 minutes to sit at my feet.  What do you think you can accomplish in this amount of time sitting at my feet, learning from me?  And when you leave to complete your tasks – don’t forget to latch on my light and easy yolk so I may tread the grain together with you.  For you are not alone.  Have I not promised to never leave or forsake you?

I have not promised the world, but victory over this world.  I have promised you a place in heaven – because I have prepared a place for you.  It is entirely up to you if you want to come and abide in what has been provided for you.  And since my word says you are seated in the heavenlies, you can abide in me while being about your daily tasks, which I have not taken from you.  Consistent persistent work while abiding in me is living a life of perfection.  For these diligent ones, they will see great reward.

Do not give up or abandon hope – and for those with hope deferred call on me to heal your hearts.  For I am a loving God who gives in abundance to all who seek it – and for those who don’t.  I send my blessing and rain on all people.  I send my refreshing on all people.  But in the end – the choices you make in life will determine where you live for eternity.

My mercies are new every morning.  So why not start fresh every day?  Why pile on your disappointments from the day before onto today?  Because this is how the enemy succeeds over you.  To lay a foundation of defeat early in the morning so you will not be able to live in peace and joy for the rest of the day.  Because the rest of the Lord is important and powerful.

For did I not say to rest on the 7th day?  And is not the bride required to show up for rehearsal to be ready for the wedding?  The ark of the covenant and the tabernacle were shadows of what is in heaven.  But weren’t they required to build them?  Of course.  So who are you, mighty man saying that my Sabbath rest has no value?  Does not my word say any who encourage others to break even the least of my commandments will be least in the kingdom of heaven?  Where is your honor for the king of Glory?  Where is your honor for the Lord, your King?

Rest in me, little flock.  Rest in me.  Do not weary yourself over worldly woes.  But come to me, who will remove every spot and wrinkle.  Give me your time, energy, and resources, and I will give you the fountain of life eternal.  This is the great exchange.  Just do it.

Who are you O Mighty man?  For I am the Lord and the Lord of Hosts, stand by and watch the defeat of the enemy.  Watch me lead my bride to victory and safety.   I have done it before and I will do it again.  This is the day I have made. Rejoice!  Rejoice!  ..and be glad.  For the rest is here for you.  Come, all those who are willing and partake of my promise, my rest.  Come!   ..and delight in my rest.  For this is the time of refreshing as I have promised.  This opportunity is available now.  Partake, partake for the Lord is good- all the time.

Scripture Reference:

2 Corinthians 2:14

But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.

Philippians 2:14-16

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
